What is Simlish?
Simlish is the fictional language spoken by Sims characters in Maxis/EA's The Sims video game franchise. It was created by game designer Will Wright and voice director Robi Polgar to avoid the cost and tedium of translating dialogue into multiple real languages.
Rather than using real language, Simlish was designed to sound realistic enough that players could emotionally interpret it through context and tone. The language has appeared in The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, and various spin-offs.
Our translator uses a phonetic substitution system inspired by Simlish phonology patterns, combined with known official Simlish vocabulary from the games. While no complete grammar exists, the result captures the spirit of the language perfectly!
